5 Fall Wedding Trends for the Urban Bride

Summer flew by at Deborah Miller Catering & Events, and we’re welcoming Fall with tons of celebrations of love all around this town we call home. Here are our favorite trends of the 2015 Fall Wedding Season perfect for the urban bride:

1. Industrial Spaces

New York City is home to many former factories and warehouses, bustling in the early 1900s, now converted into striking, unique venues ideal for today’s urban bride. Although Brooklyn is especially known for these alternative venues, like Greenpoint Loft, The 1896, and The Green Building, there are options for the Manhattan bride too. Venues like Nejla, 287 Spring, and Center 548 are perfect for the unconventional bride who is unwilling to compromise on a Manhattan location. Our event specialists love to hunt down the ideal space for their bride’s special day, so don’t be afraid to be particular with us!

2. Greens & Wheats Instead of Flowers

Fall is the perfect season to utilize greenery and wheats in place of traditional flowers. Wheat is a budget-friendly alternative to flowers that can truly enhance the décor of a rustic venue, whether it be used as a centerpiece or bouquet option.

A combination of herbs such as rosemary, mint, and ferns is also a versatile option to decorate your venue with a rustic flair— herbs can be used as table runners, plate decorations, to frame buffet tables and can even re-invent the celling sash!

3.Comfort Food Tasting Stations

Why should you have to choose between Mac & Cheese and Mini Burgers & Fries when you can have both! Food stations are the latest craze in wedding catering, and ideal for a bride & groom who can’t compromise on their favorite comfort foods to warm their hearts!

Food stations are also practical for spaces with lots of crevices you want your friends & family to visit. They allow guests to freely move through a decorated venue while enjoying a mix of cuisines and foods to keep them entertained, like our “Asian Comfort Food” station featured below.

4. Fall Naked Cakes

As naked cakes gain momentum, a lot of different style options have appeared for brides to choose from when seeking to indulge in the bare cake trend.

Whether it be a sharp color contrast cake with a dark chocolate sponge and bare white buttercream frosting or a dramatic cake with cascading garden rose blooms, Deborah Miller Catering & Events will provide you with the bare cake that appeals to your style. The autumn bride can play up the season with pumpkin, apple spiced, and cinnamon filling flavors.


5. Favors with Fall Flavors

When in doubt on wedding favors, appeal to your guests’ sweet tooth! Jarred apple butter (see our recipe here!), pumpkin cake baked in mason jars, and mini maple syrup bottles are fun and quirky Fall Wedding favors your guests will love.
