Event Spotlight: Media Company Holiday Party
We were honored this year when, Horizon Media, approached us this fall about throwing a next level holiday party for their co-workers and guests. To fete the 900 person headcount accordingly, our Events Team began a search for the perfect venue. They selected Pacha, a storied European nightlife brand which opened in New York in 2005, offering majestic views of the Hudson to the west and the pulsating excitement of Hell’s Kitchen to the East. Our theme, Glow Sticks and Glitter. What could be better?
Glow sticks and glitter evoke feelings of a cut loose, have a good time, indulge yourself event. And indulging is just what we did. Our menu took our guests on a world tour, offer in six stations in three areas on two floors.
THE MAIN FLOOR
Guests were greeted at the coat check with Pretzel Girls, outfitted like vintage cigarette girls but with Large Soft Baked New York Style Pretzels served with assorted sauces instead. From there they were guided to stations of different cuisines on the main floor, atrium and mezzanine level.
The Main Floor started with comfort food via a Make Your Own Nacho Bar featuring glass containers filled with freshly baked tortilla chips and accompanied with toppings ranging from all the jalapeños you can handle to chipotle sour cream, tropical fruit salsa and 3 Bean Chili. Guests enjoyed dripping melted cheese on creations of their own making.
For those who wanted something more substantial and selection of Sliders was available. Cheeseburgers, BBQ Pork, Pesto Turkey and Grilled Portobello Mushrooms were all available, served warm, ready to eat and on Martin’s Famous Potato Rolls.
The final Main Floor indulgence was for all the Spud Lovers out there. A Chef Manned Mashed Potato Bar was on hand to whip up any mashed potato concoction a guest desired. Highlights include: Bourbon Scented Mashed Sweet Potatoes, Buttermilk Fried Chicken Bites and the classic, Bacon.
THE ATRIUM: FAR EAST & FIESTA & ROMANO
On the atrium level guests enjoyed two options, first, my personal favorite, our Far East Station. Drawing from the flavors of Asia, the Far East Station feature bamboo steamers with individual plates of fried dumplings, topped with a soy ginger glaze. Mini Veggie Spring Rolls served in a hot Chinese wok with traditional sweet and sour was a much appreciate staple, but the main event at this station was lo-mein in Chinese Take Out Containers, complete with chopsticks for easy eating.
The second atrium offering is the Romano Station. Heading a bit further West on the globe from Asia, guests are treated to the all the flavors of Italy. When in Rome, pasta takes center stage. We offered two “entree” options: Farfalle with Creamy Wild Mushroom Sauce is warm and inviting, a great companion to an evening spent with red wine. Pasta with fresh basil, crushed red pepper and grated parmesan provides a lighter yet authentic option, to complete the Italian entrees. The classic Caprese Skewers were featured on this self serve buffet in beautifully modern iron stands. Individual bowls of Kale Salad with Dates and Almonds, lined the foreground, flanked by Mini Heros smothered in Marinara Sauce and Melted Mozzarella.
We saved the best for last our Fiesta Station and it was as fun as it sounds. This Chef Manned Taco Station was a true delight. Guests could choose from any combination of Pulled Chicken to Blackened Tilapia or Sautéed Vegetables, with plenty of additional accoutrement, the tacos were then personally wrapped in a fresh corn tortilla. While waiting, Quesadillas Triangles and Cumin Marinated Beef Burritos were on hand to be picked up buffet style, topping off with Spicy Avocado Cream and Juan’s Famous Hot Sauce.
THE MEZZANINE: LIGHTER FARE
Our final stop was the mezzanine, that offered lighter, self serve items with a focus on seafood. A plethora of ceviches were available from swordfish to veggie, with sushi and the crowd pleasing shrimp cocktail. Lighter salads with citrus vinaigrette, mixed greens and goat cheese completed this excursion into lighter fare.
Guests enjoyed food, drink and dancing well into the early hours of the next day. A wonderful time was had by all, Glow Sticks and Glitter are a hit and a year of hard work was celebrated accordingly. We look forward to out-doing ourselves next year! Until then, we wish all our friends at Horizon Media, Pasha and everywhere else a happy and healthy holidays. May your New Year be sparkly!
