Office Catering, For the Employee Soul

When looking for a new job, everyone has their non-negotiables but did you ever think that employee meals would be one of them? Nowadays, top companies throughout America are offering their employees weekly breakfasts, lunches, happy hours and even dinners. Every company has their own reason as to why they are offering this perk but I think there has to be a greater good than just keeping their employees there longer.

Personally, having worked in New York City for the past 6 years, I fall into the category of the eat, drink and breath work. Most people living here, that I know of, are the same way. You work your butt off to exceed and excel in this city and as we all know, you get what you put in.

Thankfully, a lot of companies realize this and want to acknowledge and thank their employees for their hard work. Also, every once in a while, people need to slow down and “smell the roses” and there is NO better way to do that than by enjoying and celebrating with food.

Many of the clients I work with are catering in weekly breakfasts and lunches for their employees. I get pictures from their employees sharing how happy they are with the food and it is so nice that I get to bring some happiness into one’s day.


I asked a close client of mine as to why her company feeds over 300 employees a hot breakfast once a week and she shared with me her thoughts. She believes that there are many reasons why large companies choose to cater meals for their employees: to keep retention up, to make employees happy, and to have good word-of-mouth about how well the company treats its employees, to have the employees take a break together… the reasons are infinite.

Also, she strongly believes that having catered meals boosts employee morale. Having meals catered at work serves as something for employees to look forward to. It makes getting up in the morning and commuting to work a bit easier to do.
