Kick it Off with Some Football Party Ideas

Kick it Off with Some Football Party Ideas

Fall is finally here and for many that means football, food, and fun! Football is the perfect excuse to get friends and family together at the house while cheering on your favorite team.

If you are planning on hosting a football party, why not go all out with football-themed cocktails, tailgate drinks, and football party snacks! Take a look at our football party ideas to host the perfect get together and get some inspiration for your next gathering!

Planning your Football Party

Once you’ve decided on the designated football game, send out invitations with plenty of notice. Create cute football themed online invitations and encourage everyone to wear their favorite team’s jerseys or football gear!

Display your appetizer table with a cute green tablecloth to represent the field and add yard line numbers across the length of the table or your kitchen island. Put yellow napkins into a bucket labeled “penalty flags” and create a simple football bunting with simple brown triangles and white flags to complete your football party decorations.

To make your football party extra special, consider adding a football-themed photobooth, complete with fun props and your favorite team’s colors and logos.

Football Party Appetizers

When it comes to planning the perfect football party, appetizers are a complete must! There are so many fun football party appetizers and finger foods you can choose from. Think shrimp cocktail, pretzels with cheese, nachos, peanuts, olives and more! You can stuff mushrooms with cheese and ground pork sausage or serve peppadews stuffed with your favorite cheese. During game day, everyone will want to pick on food all day long, so it’s important to have an assortment of finger food.

Pick a Theme for your Football Party

While you can set out the basic snacks like chips with salsa and guacamole, a cheese platter, or veggie tray, we urge you to go above and beyond for your next football party and pick a theme. From traditional American fare to a fun taco bar, the possibilities for football party appetizers is endless.

At Deborah Miller Catering, we offer a wide variety of appetizers that are perfect for your next football party. If you are interested in a good ‘ol tailgating themed party, opt for our mini stuffed burgers with caramelized onions and gorgonzola or pigs in a blanket with spicy brown mustard and ketchup for dipping. Other traditional options include Mac and Cheese Mugs, featuring a fun mini mug with three cheeses, mini pot pies with chicken, carrots, and herbs, and mini lobster rolls with snipped chives and lemon zest. We also love a good bowl of chili topped with cheese, jalapenos, and sour cream!

Another fun football party idea is to create a Mexican themed party complete with a taco bar, chips and salsa, burritos, and churros for dessert! Our catering staff has put together some fabulous Mexican themed menus in the past like our tequila cumin pulled chicken tacos, mini beef burritos with avocado cream and cilantro chiffonade, and Korean chicken tacos with pickled daikon radish and a tasty roasted garlic aioli sauce. Who wouldn’t want to spend their Sunday afternoon watching football and munching on tacos and nachos?

Football Themed Cocktails & Tailgate Drinks

Create a fun drink station with decorations in your team’s logos and colors. For a fun touch, consider serving drinks in football style Gatorade colors or place beer in a fun cooler or beverage tub. Remember to keep several bottle openers close by or tie the openers to the tub to keep track of them.

While beer seems to be the drink of choice on game day, consider adding in other drinks to your bar as well. We love setting up a make your own Bloody Mary Bar on game day complete with your choice of vodka, tomato juice and fixing’s like celery, blue cheese stuffed olives, shrimp cocktail, and prosciutto. You can even include a fun football stirrer alongside football themed napkins on your bar or bar cart.

For those who prefer mimosas, set out your favorite champagne alongside different juices like orange juice, pineapple juice, and cranberry juice!

Whatever theme you are choosing for your football party, be sure that your drinks match. For example, if you are serving Mexican food like tacos and nachos, serve up some fun margaritas or a crisp Corona with lime. If you are serving up traditional American fare, like sliders and pigs in a blanket, you might want to offer some cold beers and a Bloody Mary bar.
