When choosing a wedding meal style, there are a few key things to keep in mind.

  1. The Guests: How many people are coming, and what are their tastes and preferences? Do you want people to have assigned seats or float about during the wedding reception?
  2. Timing: What type of flow are you looking for? Do you want a formal dinner hour, or to have guests graze throughout the night? Is there a musical performance?
  3. Seasonality: Are there seasonal ingredients you want to highlight? What is the temperature, and will that affect people’s appetites?

The planners at Deborah Miller Catering & Events will work with couples every step of the way to ensure their wedding culinary dreams become a reality.

Plated Dinner

A plated dinner screams elegance. Guests are seated and served several courses, all plated beautifully, and portioned generously. A plated dinner is a classic wedding style and can be two or three courses, typically consisting of a salad first course, a meat or fish main, and a dessert. Vegetarian options are also always available. A plated dinner allows guests to enjoy themselves without doing any heavy lifting.

Some of our favorite plated dinner options are the Winter Pear and Squash Burrata Salad, and the Ash-Crusted Filet Mignon. End the meal with a plated dessert, a cake, or passed desserts!

Family Style

A popular choice among recent wedding parties is the family-style dinner. Family-style meals allow for ample mingling and sharing around the table. Guests pass around platters full of carefully crafted dishes that are easy to share and pair with various sides. A family-style meal has a bit more of a laid-back feel than plated dinners; it’s jovial and delicious.

A few of our favorite family-style dishes include Thyme-Garlic Roasted Carrots, Creamy Polenta Cakes, and Braised Short Ribs!

Passed Small Plates

Have a never-ending party! A wedding meal of passed small plates is a fun way for guests to mingle, eat, and dance their way through the night. In addition to cocktail hour, we typically curate a menu consisting of five passed small plates, including two lite fare and three hearty fare. Passed Small Plates are a great way to showcase different cooking techniques via a selection of small dishes that ooze creativity.

Peking Duck Taco, Beet “Ravioli”, and Aji Shrimp are a few of our signature passed small plates!

Stations

Can’t decide on a single cuisine to lead the show? Don’t stress, have stations! Customizable stations are a great way to showcase different food styles and cuisines, allowing individual stations to differ from each other while complementing one another at the same time. Stations also give your guests more opportunity to lean in their favorites, if they want to! Choose From Steak Carvery, a Pasta Station, Raw Bar, and more!

Wedding parties are a unique reflection of a couples’ love story, and our diverse options aim to add that extra layer of magic to the celebration. Explore the possibilities, get inspired, and let the culinary journey with Deborah Miller Catering & Events begin!
