How To Create a Spooktacular Halloween Celebration
At Deborah Miller Catering & Events, we are constantly asked to design parties based on different themes, or to focus on events during certain holiday seasons. October is one of our favorite months here, and we have quickly found that Halloween office parties have increased in popularity. Planning a frightful office Halloween party can be a great way to bring co-workers together in a wickedly fun setting. Halloween 2018 falls on a Wednesday, so a Happy Hour party seems like the perfect way to end the hump day and to usher in some Halloween Horror! Whether planning an all-office gathering or designing a smaller-division get together, we have identified several ‘spooktacular’ Halloween party food ideas for creating a fabulously hair-raising fest.
Devilishly Designed Decor
There are many ways to dress up your Halloween party space. Check out a few of our Halloween party ideas:
Flowers – a bouquet can turn dreadful with the addition of spiders, plastic eyeballs or black bats. Deep purple and orange flowers usher in the Halloween spirit while adding a splash of color - Add a cluster of candlesticks to evoke such Halloween classics as Dracula’s castle.
Painted Pumpkins – A big trend for this Halloween is painted pumpkins. These designed beauties can be customized to your theme or your company. Painted designs, such as Chevron prints, can add a sophisticated centerpiece to any table.
Macabre Paper Goods – Tablecloths and Linens set the atmosphere for any ghastly celebration. Black cloths with spider web overlays set a dark tone while orange and black prints portray a more traditional fete.

Ghoulicious Halloween Cocktails
Whatever your potion, signature Halloween cocktails are a delicious way to enjoy a liquid Halloween treat. Here are a few ideas to get the party flowing:
Poisoned Apple Cider – Adding Bourbon to this fall favorite is a great way to warm up your insides. Serve this in a black cauldron for a fabulous witches brew!
Eyeball Martini – Turn a classic martini into a Halloween specialty with this spooky trick. Push a peppercorn into the center of each olive, tucking under pimento filling, to resemble an eye. Add it to a shaken mix of vodka and vermouth and drink at your own risk.
Pink Widow – Combine prosecco, pomegranate juice and pomegranate seeds to create an enchanting drink. Garnish this Halloween cocktail with a black spider for a dark twist.
Monstrous Munchies and Demon Desserts
Of course sweets are a Halloween essential, but as a catering company, we are always thinking of fun themed treats that are deliciously inspiring and devilishly delicious:
Spicy Bat Wings – Blacken traditional chicken fingers for a thrilling twist and serve with a blue cheese swamp dip for a fearful finish.
Witches Fingers – Wrap mini hot dogs creatively with dough to make them look like a frightful finger. Dip in ghouls blood for a creepy combination.
Black & Orange Cookies – Create a festive twist on a New York tradition by replacing the “white” side of a black & white cookie with orange icing.
Staffing is crucial to any successful event, and Halloween is no exception. Whether just using bartenders or hiring a full staff to pass hors d’oeuvres, the staff can be a final frightful touch:
Dress up – Ask your staff to dress up or to wear masks to continue your theme.
Decorate Food Displays – Add a bloodcurdling accent to passing trays or food buffets by placing plastic bugs, spiders or other critters next to your food.
